A large chart from La Pérouse's 'Voyage autour du Monde'. The 3rd sheet of La Perouse’s examination of the west coast of the now USA, this chart covers the coastal area between 46o and 36o North from Monterey to Cap Rond. It is in bare outline except for Monterey (which la Perouse actually visited), Cape Mendocino ( where a volcano is noted), Cape Blanc and Cape Rond, all of which have some topographic detail shown.The is also a rough outline of the entrance and Port de St Francis (San Francisco). The ships track is shown as well.An attractive and important chart. Ref.: Wagner, North West Coast of America, entry 845.
