Rare wall map of Amsterdam and surroundings (Amstelland) after the surveyor Gerrit Dogenham and engraved by Daniel Stopendaal (ca. 1640- ca. 1750) in magnificent, delightful and strong contemporary colouring, originally published by Nicolaas Visser, printed on 6 sheets, which are found in various compositions, sometimes only the middle section, also with the title: 'Nieuwe accurate kaart van Amstellandt met een gedeelte van Sticht, Rhijnlandt en Noordhollandt ... / getekent door Gerrit Drogenham ... ; in't koper gebragt door Daniel Stopendaal, Met octroy van d'Ed. Hoogmog. Heeren Staten Generaal der vereenigde Nederlanden'. The publishers Reinier and Josua Ottens were partners between ca. 1726 and 1750.
The scale of the map, which is rendering the situation of ca. 1700, is ca. 1:25.000. The map includes in the north Saendam and Noordmeer, in the west Halfweg, Spieringmeer and De Groote Haerlemmer ofte Leidsche meer, in the east De Nes, Muiden and the Horstenmeer, and in the south Kalslagen, Mijdrecht and the Horstenmeer.
