I, II and IV, 280 engraved plates including maps, genealogical tables, many plates with inset vignettes of arms and portraits, some double page or folding, Includes the very good dark impression of the four sheet folding map of the America’s, some staining to a few pages (vol. 2) not affecting text or images, browning to a few pages; bound in contemporary sprinkled calf, spine in seven compartments separated by raised bands and richly decorated and lettered in gilt, red morocco labels. In addition to the maps, many of which are based on such as those of Dapper, Chardin, le Btuyn, Le Hay and others, covering China, Japan, Persi, Egypt, Russia as well as the Americas. Show early images of native people “Esquimaux”, “Hurons”, “Iroquois”, “Cannibales”, “Hottentots, “Namaquas, etc.
