Also an atlas of ancient cartography, the ' Parergon' and a pocket atlas, the ' Epitome'.Abraham Ortelius influential map of the Far East is based on Mercator's world map of 1569. Depicting all of South East, China, Japan (Kyushu and Honshu shown as one peculiar circular-shaped Island) and the west coast of North America. The northern coasts of New Guinea are shown with a note announcing the uncertainty as to whether it is an Island or part of Terra Australis.
