Description: Second engraving from the suite of 12 entitled 'Premi�re Suite des Mois de l'Ann�e' with an allegory of the month of February. The frame is decorated with elements reminding of this month; the medaillon at the top center contains the zodiacal sign of the Pisces. Within the representation to the left an interior with a couple seated in front of a fireplace. The man is ordering more wood for the fire to a servant at the center. To the right towards the background a man is chopping more wood; standing beside him a donkey. On the background a landscape with Roman ruins . Inscription on the bottom on cartouche:'Februo curta dies multum, infoelisq. recessus / Corpora dum morbis opplet, & vermibus hortos / Cum pri Regis'
Condition: Prenten, Oude meester prenten, Allegorieen
EURO 605 INCL. VATTechnique: Engraving on paper, trimmed within platemark; total: 176 x 240 mm. State I/2 before plate numbering. Watermark with grapes.
