Copper engraving in original color.32x24 cms.The scene shows the combat between greeks and Amazons. The vase where this scene was depicted is nowadys unknown in its location.Hamilton formed a fine collection of greek vases during his stay like British envoy in Naples. the collection was sold to the British museum in 1772 but before it was designed and catalogued intended for a fine publication with a high degree of accuracy.The set in 4 volumes illustrated the known as first Hamilton vase collection, being most of it in London and other vases scattered throughout other museums.
