Original colour lithography. 76 x 58 cms. The plate represents the remains of the Sesesi archeological settlement. Sesebi was a crossroad founded during the Amarna period (XIV century b.c)
The plate has slightly spotted at central part; else margins and condition are good.
This place was visited by Lepsius during his expedition to Egypt(1842-45) that was one of the best prepared ever.He recovered some 15000 antiquities along the country that were sent back to Berlin and are nowadays the core of the magnificent egyptian collection.
The plate is in good condition. It comes from the rare work "Denkmaler aus Aegypten und Aethiopien published in Berlin.
