Title: Kaart van het kamp bij Zeist aanduidende de daar op bestaan hebbende kampementen. [Netherlands, ca. 1828]. Manuscript plan in ink (56.5 x 67.5 cm) on paper. With title in upper left corner and scale in ells, ca. 1:6000.
Description: Manuscript plan showing the location of the French encampment and that of the Dutch camps of 1818, 1822 and 1828, near Zeist. In 1804 General Marmont set up his military camp on the heatherfields near Zeist. The camp was called Austerlitz, in memory of Napoleon's battle of Austerlitz (Slavkov, Czech Republic), and later used by the Dutch army.The map based on the original maps of the French camp of Fevre de Montigny and updated with the location of the Dutch camps, was made as a test piece by the 17-year-old infantry cadet jonkheer Adriaan Snoeck (1811-1890), son of the Dutch fortification engineer Matthias Adriaan Snoeck.Slightly soiled near the edges. Good condition.
