Description

Wall map in four sheets, 118 x 100 cms. Outline original colour. The map is dissected and laid on linen. Some light waterstaining affecting central part of caribbean sea and Atlantic,Some light scattered foxing.
Rare and scarce wall map printed by Delamarche based on an earlier state by Vaugondy firstly printed around 1760. The map reflects in detail the independent territory of the United States. The Louisiane territories were given to Spain in the treaty of Paris(1763) and to the west of the map there is a vast territory called : 2 province de Quivira et Teguaio".
South America part is probably based on the Cano y Olmedilla accurate wall map of 1775. This state with the Delamarche imprint is unrecorded and we have tracked two copies in recent years ( Cohen and Taliaferro cat 2006 item 75) and a copy offered by barry Ruderman coming from the famous Nebenzahl collection
