Detailed and very decorative map that provides a general description of the The Canal du Midi, originally called the Canal Royale du Languedoc; the borders are enriched by technical inset maps and the inner part decorated with coat of arms. The channel runs for150 miles from Toulouse on the Garonne Rive to Sete on the Mediterranean. It was considered as the largest civil engineering project in seventeenth century Europe: its construction took about 20 years. Very good condition.
