The celestial atlas produced by Andreas Cellarius ‘Atlas Coelestis seu Harmonia Macrocosmica’ is the only celestial atlas published in the heydays of Dutch cartography. A celestial chart showing the classical theory of planetary movement as described by Claudius Ptolemeus, with the earth as the center of the universum. The circular diagram is surrounded by a very decorative border with grotesk figures. In the lower corners two more diagrams illustrating the Ptolemeus theory. A very fine, high quality celestial chart. Ref.: Warner, The Sky Explored, pp 53-54.
